October 28, 2026 - 02:57

Wake Forest has finished its rest period and is ready to refocus for the stretch run. Following a bye week, the Demon Deacons sit at 6-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play with five games remaining on the schedule. The team returns home Saturday to face the Virginia Cavaliers, who arrive in Winston-Salem with a 4-4 overall record and a 2-3 mark in conference action.

The matchup offers Wake Forest a chance to build on its strong start and maintain momentum in the conference race. The bye week gave players time to recover from the physical toll of the first half of the season, and coaches used the extra days to prepare for the final five opponents. Virginia presents a challenge, but the Demon Deacons have shown consistency on both sides of the ball through seven games.

With the season entering its decisive phase, every game carries added weight. Wake Forest will look to protect its home field and keep pace near the top of the conference standings. The Cavaliers, meanwhile, are searching for a statement win to steady their own season. Kickoff is set for Saturday in Winston-Salem, where the Demon Deacons aim to turn their rest into results.
