SF Giants Opinion: Time to clean house

The San Francisco Giants have a problem. And it might be time to clean house. After another season of inconsistent play, frustrating losses, and a roster that feels stuck in neutral, the front office and coaching staff need to face a hard truth: the current blueprint is not working. The Giants have tried the "retool on the fly" approach, signing mid-tier free agents and hoping for career years from veterans. That strategy worked in 2021, but it has failed since. The farm system has not produced enough impact players, and the big league club lacks a clear identity.

Fans are tired of watching a team that is neither rebuilding nor contending. The front office, led by Farhan Zaidi, has made some smart moves, but the overall results are mediocre. The roster is filled with players who are good, not great. There is no superstar to build around, and the pitching staff is a patchwork of reclamation projects and injury risks. The manager, Bob Melvin, inherited a tough situation, but the team has looked flat and uninspired for long stretches.

It is time for ownership to make a bold decision. That means cleaning out the front office, firing the coaching staff, and starting over with a clear vision. The Giants need a president of baseball operations who will commit to a full rebuild, stock the farm system with elite talent, and develop a young core. The fans will accept a few losing seasons if there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Right now, there is only darkness. The Giants are not one or two players away. They are a franchise in need of a complete reset from the top down. Anything less is just rearranging deck chairs on a sinking ship.
