The Twin Cities are gearing up for a packed weekend of youth and high school sports, with hundreds of teams converging on venues across the metro area for a series of marquee tournaments and showcases. From Friday through Sunday, athletes in baseball, basketball, and volleyball will compete in events that draw top talent from multiple states.
In baseball, several AAU and club tournaments are scheduled at complexes in Bloomington, Eagan, and Minnetonka. Fields will be full from early morning until dusk as teams battle through pool play and bracket rounds. Scouts and college recruiters are expected to attend, making these games important for players hoping to compete at the next level.
Basketball takes center stage at convention centers and high school gyms in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The weekend features both boys and girls divisions, with games running simultaneously on multiple courts. Organizers expect close to 200 teams across age groups, from 10-and-under to 17-and-under. The level of play is high, with several nationally ranked club programs participating.
Volleyball action will be just as intense, with tournaments held at the Minneapolis Convention Center and several suburban sports facilities. Dozens of teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the Dakotas will compete in pool play followed by single-elimination brackets. Coaches say the competition is a key tune-up for the summer club season and a chance for high school players to build chemistry before fall tryouts.
Traffic around major venues is expected to be heavy, especially near the Mall of America and downtown Minneapolis. Organizers recommend arriving early and carpooling when possible. Concessions and merchandise stands will be open at most sites, and live streaming of select courts and fields will be available for families unable to attend in person.
