Wales were left to rue missed chances and a controversial decision as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Montenegro, with Jasna Djokovic scoring a late equaliser. The visitors thought they had doubled their lead earlier in the second half, only to see the goal disallowed. That decision proved costly when Djokovic struck in the closing stages to snatch a point for the hosts.
Manager Craig Bellamy did not hold back in his assessment, calling the performance "not good enough." He pointed to a lack of composure in front of goal and a failure to manage the game when ahead. "We had opportunities to put the match to bed and we didn't take them," Bellamy said. "You cannot afford to switch off at this level, and we paid the price."
The result leaves Wales with work to do in their qualifying campaign. While the team showed flashes of attacking intent, the inability to hold onto a lead has become a recurring issue. Bellamy acknowledged the squad must learn quickly. "It is a harsh lesson, but we have to be better," he added. "There are no excuses."
