A full slate of recreational programs and athletic events is scheduled for the June 12 through June 21 window, offering options for youth, high school, and college athletes.
The city parks department will host a free youth soccer clinic on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at Riverside Fields. The clinic is open to children ages 6 through 12 and focuses on basic dribbling and passing drills. No registration is required, but participants should bring their own water and shin guards.
For high school athletes, the annual summer basketball league tips off on Monday, June 15, at the downtown community center. Games will run weeknights at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. through mid-July. Teams from four local high schools have confirmed participation, and the league is open to rising sophomores through seniors.
On the college side, the state university baseball team will host a three-day prospect camp starting June 19. The camp is designed for players entering grades 9 through 12 and will cover hitting, fielding, and pitching mechanics. Cost is 75 dollars per player, and online registration closes June 17.
