Pritchard Secures Two-Year Extension with Boston Celtics

October 13, 2026 - 19:52

Payton Pritchard has committed to the Boston Celtics for the long term, agreeing to a two-year contract extension that keeps the guard in green through the 2027-28 season. The deal, reported by multiple outlets, removes any immediate uncertainty about his future with the franchise.

Pritchard, a first-round pick in 2020, has developed into a reliable rotation piece known for his shooting range, ball handling, and relentless energy off the bench. His ability to knock down shots from deep and push the pace has made him a valuable asset in Boston's system, particularly during stretches when the starters need rest.

The extension reflects the Celtics' confidence in Pritchard's growth and their desire to maintain continuity on a roster built to compete for championships. Financial terms were not immediately disclosed, but the agreement gives Boston cost certainty and avoids the distraction of free agency next summer.

For Pritchard, the deal offers stability and a clear role on a contender. He has embraced being a spark plug off the bench, and his improved playmaking and defensive effort have earned him trust from the coaching staff. With the extension done, both sides can focus on the upcoming season and the pursuit of another deep playoff run.
