Jeffery Simmons Says Titans Are Close to Turning the Corner

The Tennessee Titans have stumbled out of the gate with four straight losses, but defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons is not ready to write off the season. The star lineman told reporters this week that the team is closer to winning football than its record suggests, pointing to a single glaring issue that has kept the Titans out of the win column.

According to Simmons, the difference between 0-4 and a winning stretch comes down to turnovers. He said the defense has to do a better job of taking the ball away, whether that means stripping the ball, jumping routes, or capitalizing on tipped passes. Creating short fields for the offense would take pressure off a unit that has struggled to finish drives.

Simmons acknowledged the frustration inside the locker room but pushed back on the idea that the season is slipping away. He described the mood as urgent rather than defeated, with players focused on fixing the details that have cost them in close games. Tennessee has been within striking distance in several of its losses, which gives the veteran defender reason to believe the tide can turn quickly.

The Titans will need that belief to translate into results on the field. Until the turnovers come, the talk of being close will remain just that.
