The City of Huntsville is set to significantly enhance the Huntsville Ice Sports Center (ISC) by approving a substantial expansion project aimed at accommodating the increasing popularity of ice sports and recreational activities. The City Council has greenlit a construction contract valued at $44.6 million with ARCO/Murray National Holdings, Inc. to kick off this ambitious development.
The expansion will effectively double the size of the current facility, adding an impressive 118,822 square feet to the existing 83,934-square-foot structure. This major upgrade is designed to meet the rising demand for ice sports, providing residents with improved facilities and amenities.
Construction is slated to commence shortly, with an anticipated completion date set for late 2026 or early 2027. The project not only reflects the city’s commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities but also aims to foster community engagement and promote healthy lifestyles through sports. As the expansion progresses, it is expected to attract more events and activities, further solidifying Huntsville's reputation as a hub for ice sports enthusiasts.
