During their sophomore year at Chantilly High School in Fairfax County, Advaiit Iyer and Nitish Shah launched the Youth Sports Analytics Forum. This innovative initiative aims to teach fellow students the intricacies of data analytics through the lens of sports. Recognizing the growing importance of data in various fields, the duo decided to blend their passion for athletics with their interest in analytics.
The forum engages students by using real-world sports data, allowing them to explore statistics, predictive modeling, and data visualization techniques. Through hands-on projects, participants learn how to analyze player performance, game strategies, and team dynamics. This practical approach not only enhances students' analytical skills but also fosters teamwork and critical thinking.
As the program gains traction, Iyer and Shah hope to expand its reach, encouraging more students to appreciate the value of data analytics. Their initiative exemplifies how high schoolers can effectively leverage their interests to create educational opportunities for their peers.
