BYU Football Hit by Injuries Ahead of TCU Matchup

October 2, 2026 - 11:29

Eight BYU football players will not suit up for the team's upcoming game against TCU, creating significant depth concerns for the undefeated Cougars. The program confirmed the absences as the team prepares to travel to Fort Worth for a critical conference showdown.

The injury list adds pressure to a roster that has relied on consistency and physical play through the early part of the season. Coaches will need to adjust rotations on both sides of the ball, giving younger players and backups a chance to step into larger roles. The timing is far from ideal, as the Cougars are chasing their third straight 4-0 start and hoping to end a long road losing streak against the Horned Frogs.

TCU presents a tough challenge at home, with speed on offense and a defense that thrives on forcing mistakes. BYU's staff has emphasized discipline and ball control throughout the week, knowing that replacements must execute quickly without costly errors.

Despite the setbacks, the team remains focused on its goals. Players say the next-man-up mentality has carried them all year, and they expect the same approach on Saturday. A win would keep the Cougars unbeaten and mark a meaningful step toward breaking their road drought in Fort Worth.
